Our exhibits are organized into distinct areas, each offering a unique glimpse into a different aspect of history.
- Mobile Steam: The rumble and hiss of our mobile steam collection bring the past to life. This section features our renowned Traction Engines, a pair of massive Fowler Ploughing Engines, and several classic Steam Rollers.
- Stationary Steam: Discover the engines that powered the industrial revolution. This collection includes large mill engines and pumping engines, showcasing the power and ingenuity that drove factories and mines.
- Earth Moving: Witness the brute force of our earth-moving machinery. This exhibit features vintage Euclid Scrapers, Caterpillar Graders, and the star of the show, the imposing Walking Dragline which is regularly demonstrated.
- The Lyttelton II Steam Tug: A truly special exhibit, we have preserved the entire engine room of the T.S.T. Lyttelton II, a harbour tug launched in 1938. This allows you to walk through a real piece of maritime history.
- Workshop and Blacksmith Shop: See the tools and techniques used to keep these machines running. Our fully operational blacksmith shop features a working steam hammer, demonstrating a craft that is as old as the industrial revolution itself.
- Members’ Exhibits: The collection is enhanced by a wide variety of privately owned exhibits from our members, including vintage Oil Engines, Diesel Engines, and a range of unique machinery that reflects their personal passions.
