Steamfest: The Highlight of Our Year
Get ready for our biggest event of the year! Steamfest is the Melbourne Steam Centre’s annual celebration of all things steam, power, and heritage. This is your best chance to see our largest collection of restored machines in full action, from the thunderous engines to the intricate working models. It’s a vibrant, hands-on experience that’s fun for the whole family and a true spectacle for enthusiasts. Highlights from previous Steamfests can be seen here.
A World of Working Machinery
Our grounds come alive during Steamfest, showcasing the full power of our incredible collection. See our massive Traction Engines, powerful Ploughing Engines, and classic Steam Rollers moving under their own steam. Head over to the back paddock to watch our restored Earth-moving Machinery—including our famous dragline—do what they were built to do!
Experience the Magic, Big and Small
Steamfest offers something for everyone, whether you’re a heavy-machinery aficionado or simply looking for a fun day out. Hop aboard our Miniature Railway for a ride through the grounds, or let our tractor-drawn “people mover” give you a tour. Inside our main sheds, you can explore the Lyttelton II Steam Tug’s engines, watch a steam hammer at work, and see our extensive collection of industrial diesels and vintage tractors.
